1. Adjustable board
The first and the basic step for longboarding for a beginner is to choose the right board adjustable to their age, size, and body fitness. 2. Standing position

Usually, regular people put their left foot forward and the goofy people put their right foot forward on a longboard. 4. Balance on one leg
The key point of longboarding for the beginners is to balance on one leg while you are on the longboard. When one leg you set on the board, the other leg has to push to carry on the longboard. Your front foot rotates, your toes should be pointed to the nose. To make the balance on one leg, you need to point your shoulders and hips towards the face. While you are skating on a longboard, touch the ground with the other foot time to time to stable your balance.

As a beginner, you will apply this foot braking when you slow down riding the longboard. To be an expert in longboarding skating, you must be an expert in turning while skating. The kids and learners must begin this longboarding rolling on flat ground or grass. There are chances that you will fall down several times while practicing turning on a longboard. When you go to a hill, make sure to tighten the trucks so the board turns lesser. You can apply the same method on the grass, if you are confident about the turning practice, then you can lock your ankles and the board will carry your whole body weight. 7. Be prepared to fall
Skating might be dangerous and risky for many. A lot of people are scared of skating for the fear of falling down. But it is said to be the basic rule of longboarding. It is an obvious rule that you will fall several times if you are a beginner. But make sure not to fall down on your arms otherwise you might break your arms. The best technique when you fall down is to roll your hands on your head and fall on your forearm. If you are sensing that you are falling, try to fall forward. Backward falling might result in a serious injury.
As a beginner, you need to learn how to slide on longboarding. But you can learn to slide when you can skate on a longboard at least at an average rate. When you are going fast on a longboard and need to slow down, sliding is the most effective strategy. An expert can slide even standing up on the longboard, but if you are a beginner, the better way is to slide down touching the ground with your hand. Hand sliding is safer than standing to slide.
9. How to slow down
Going fast on a longboard for a beginner is the biggest risk for them. When you are riding through a hill or curvy road, you need to slow down to turn to the other side or to take U turn. If you try to turn with a high speed, you might face serious damage to your body. Try to keep your knees to the gravity getting the weight on your toes and try to bend backward to pass the dangerous hill curves which will automatically slow down the speed.
10. Try on a small hill
If you are a beginner longboarder, then riding on the curving and high hills can be a deadly decision for you. As a practice, you can ride on the small hills, but with protections like a helmet, gloves, shoes, etc. so that if you fall down, no serious damage happens to you.
